Crime: VIVIAN MORZACH MURDER
Details: On Sunday the 30th of July 2000 at approximately 3:00pm, the body of Vivien
MORZUCH, a young 15 year old boy from Montreal, was found in the Savona
area by campers from the Steelhead Provincial Park.
Actually, other campers and passers by, had seen the boy’s body in the ditch
on the previous day, Saturday, but overlooked the situation as perhaps, just
an intoxicated person.
His body was lying face up in a ditch at the entrance to the Park and it
appeared that he had been brutally beaten. On Thursday July 27th, it is believed Morzuch had been picked up in the Winfield area, near Kelowna, as a hitchhiker and he was taken to Kamloops and dropped off at Riverside Park. The following day Friday, he was sighted by several people while panhandling in the 200 block of Victoria Street.
An unconfirmed Tip indicates that Morzuch may have been with a young
female person and they were seen hitchhiking toward Vernon and standing
on the East Trans Canada Highway by the Petro-Canada Service Station.
Vivien was born in 1984 and was a white male, 165 cms., 60 kgms., blonde
curly hair, and blue eyes. He was hitchhiking from Quebec to the Okanagan to pick fruit in the Penticton and Summerland areas. Police suspect his body had been lying in this very steep ditch for at least 24 hours prior to Sunday the 30th, and that he was probably placed
there during the early morning hours of Saturday July 29th. RCMP do have information that a grey colored SUV type vehicle was seen at
the murder site at 2:00am Saturday morning. At this vehicle, were three young men, two Caucasian and one Native male. They were all wearing both light colored T-shirts and shorts and the male
Native had a red baseball cap on backwards. RCMP South East District Serious Crime Unit and Kamloops and District Crime Stoppers have received numerous Tips and information related to this crime.
