Crime: SHANA LEE LABATTE MURDER MARCH 2004
Details: On March 23rd, 2004 at 10:45 a.m. a couple walking in Mission Flats Park area discovered the partially clothed body of 30 yr old Shana Lle Labatte. Shana was murdered and her body left in the Mission Flats area. It is believed she was slain elsewhere and her body dumped by the suspect at the Mission Flats location. Shana was a known sex-trade worker, but she was also the mother of two children and according to friends, she was very well liked. As in the case of many other sex-trade workers, she was addicted to drugs and had turned to the sex-trade to support her expensive habit. Unfortunately, this line of work is extremely dangerous and workers are vulnerable and exposed to a multitude of different personalities, including those with the most dysfunctional psychological disorders. Although RCMP say the crimes are not associated, this has been the second killing of a known street worker since August 1st, 2003. In both cases, RCMP continue to search for clues. In this case, Shana was last seen Tuesday, March 23rd, between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. at the corner of Seymour and Sixth near the 7-11 Store. At this time, she was getting into a brown four-door Ford SUV. She was wearing a yellow bomber style jacket with black stripes on the sleeves and collar, black track pants with two white stripes on the outside leg, a black knit, low-cut halter top, a black handbag with shoulder strap and black Adidas running shoes. She had shoulder length blond hair. Considering she was found at 10:45 a.m. she fell victim to this suspect in the preceding five hours. RCMP need your help in solving this crime.
