Crime: Sherry Hiltz Murder
Details: The badly beaten body of Sheri Lee Hiltz was found in a back yard in the 800 block of Surrey Ave at 11:00am on Saturday the 9th of April 2005. Kamloops Serious Crime Section is investigating this homicide which is the third Kamloops sex trade worker found murdered since August 1st 2003. There is no evidence suggesting the three homicides are related. Heather Hamill's body was found off Indian Point on August 1st 2003 and Shana Labatte's body was located at Mission Flats Municipal Park on March 23rd 2004. In this particular case, Sheri is described as 44 years of age with medium colored skin, Caucasian, dark hair, average build and wearing a dark bomber style leather jacket, black skirt with a floral pattern and medium soled open towed white sandals. The location where the body was found on Surrey Avenue is in close proximity to Malone's On Eighth, a Pub on 8th Street where there is considerable traffic and noise during the evening and early morning hours. One possible scenario is that she may have been murdered in the near vicinity of where the body was found at 11:00am on Saturday. Police are looking for clues such as pedestrian or vehicular traffic in this area during the previous evening or early morning hours of Saturday April 9th 2005. Also in this area are a great number of apartment buildings, a Seniors residence, and businesses on 8th Street wherein anyone could have witnessed events that would be important to this case. Sheri was last seen at the Miracle Centre on the North Shore around 7:30pm Friday night, then her body was found between 10:30am and 11:00am the following day, Saturday. To be sure, this woman was a mother, a daughter and a sibling and her relatives are deeply sorrowed by this incident. If you saw something or even think you might know who is responsible for this homicide, please call Crime Stoppers as we absolutely guarantee your anonymity.
